Miranda Lyon, DVM, founder of Free State Vet, launched her in-home veterinary service to dedicate and deliver personalized, high-quality care in the comfort of her clients' homes. Serving the beloved dogs and cats of the Lawrence, Kansas area, Dr. Lyon brings over 13 years of experience in providing comprehensive veterinary services, including wellness exams, vaccinations, bloodwork, chronic disease management and end-of-life care.
In addition to routine care, she offers specialized services such as ultrasounds of the chest and abdomen, ensuring her patients receive the most accurate diagnostics and treatment available.
Dr. Lyon takes pride in her ability to work with pets who exhibit behavioral challenges in the veterinary setting, tailoring her approach to care, to the unique needs of each animal.

Travel fee applied to each home visit
Lawrence, Kansas, city limits and locations within a 10 mile radius
Visit fee for locations outside of our service area will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Pets added to a visit will incur an additional exam fee, but only one travel fee per household

Annual testing for heartworm infection is recommend for dogs 7 months and older by the American Heartworm Society to ensure no lapses in prevention
Annual testing for intestinal parasites ensures your pet and family stay safe
In-home abdominal or chest ultrasound
Saying goodbye with love and dignity is important. Our in-home euthanasia service allows you to provide a peaceful, comfortable passing for your pet in the place they feel safest—at home, surrounded by love. No additional travel fee charged and offered outside standard business hours
